January 2017 Meeting Recap

by Emily Doane
We had a great turnout for our January meeting (and even welcomed a new member!), and show and tell was pretty inspiring. We voted to pass the slate of officers for 2017, so the guild leadership remains the same. We encourage all members to start thinking about taking on leadership roles next year as a few of our officers plan to step down. We can always use fresh ideas and opinions! We also reviewed the proposed budget for 2017 and voted to pass it.

Our submission to the 2017 QuiltCon Charity Quilt Challenge is completed and on its way to Savannah for display. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the effort, especially Emily Doane, Melissa Everett, and Jennifer Grace for planning, quilting, and binding. Read more about our process here.

One of the most exciting things on our programming calendar this year is a quilt exhibit. The show will open Friday, June 2, and hang for a month at the Arts & Culture Alliance Emporium in downtown Knoxville. Submissions will be due by April 1, and a Google form with more information and application details will be sent to members soon.

Our next meeting is March 18, 10:15-12 at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
