ABOUT US

The Knoxville Modern Quilt Guild is for residents in and around Knoxville who have an interest in modern design and quilting. We hope to provide members with a community where modern quilters can meet, share ideas and create in an environment that encourages creativity and acceptance. Our guild is a member of The Modern Quilt Guild. One of the original founders of the Modern Quilt Guild, Alissa Haight-Carlton, organized the first modern quilt guild meeting in January 2010. Our founder Mary Beth Meadows contacted Alissa and took steps to establish the Knoxville Modern Quilt Guild in February of that same year.

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES - KMQG has adopted the Modern Quilt Guild's Community Guidelines. We encourage you to take a moment to read through them here. If you have any questions, please email us at modknoxville@gmail.com.

Get Involved!

MONTHLY MEETINGS - The KMQG meets monthly, typically on the third
Saturday. Please check our online calendar or our Facebook page for the most up-to-date information.

RETREATS - More details will be released as events are planned. Be sure to check our calendar for the most up-to-date information.

CHARITY WORK - We work hard to be involved in the community by giving back to Knoxville in the best way we know how - with quilts! Currently, KMQG members contribute blocks to quilts gifted to families leaving The Restoration House of East Tennessee. We have participated in quilt block drives for Quilts of Valor, local families in need and other communities as needed, as well as donating quilts for auction for local causes.

DUES - We are very thankful that as of yet, we have not had to pay for our meeting space! As such, 2024 dues are quite reasonable at $45 annually. Guests are welcome to attend one meeting, but continued attendance requires paid membership. A $20 guild fee is assessed for new KMQG members who have already paid annual dues (for the same calendar year) in a different chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild or as individual members of the MQG. Dues are reduced by 50% for new members joining KMQG after July 1.

ONLINE - Join us on Instagram and Facebook! You can also enjoy recaps our of monthly meetings here on our website.

We hope that you’ll come visit us! If you already know you are interested in formalizing your membership with the Knoxville Modern Quilt Guild, please contact us at modknoxville@gmail.com. At that time, we will forward information to you about submitting annual dues. Once completed, you will be added to our member roster and provided access to our website, our members-only Facebook page, and the MQG member resources.

Otherwise, you are welcome to join us for a meeting. After that, we hope you will want to secure your membership and become a part of this exciting quilting movement. If you have the time, please take a moment to look over the MQG’s article,What is Modern Quilting?”. It may answer some questions you may have. Hope to see you soon.
